This debate started in an article written by Mike Newton, CEO of Dedicated Micros, where he claimed that IP CCTV systems are expensive and unreliable compared to analogue / hybrid CCTV systems. He claimed an IP based CCTV system for 750 cameras costs £1.8m and a hybrid CCTV system £600k. 

Controlware put these claims to the test by developing some detailed system costs based on the components in Mike's original article. In our article we also dispute some of the claims about IP CCTV and the perceived benefits of hybrid systems.
